GLJ Petroleum Consultants Ltd. was founded by Vic Kloepfer and Gary Last as Last Kloepfer Ltd. in 1972 in response to a need for independent evaluation services in Canada. Since that time, the firm has grown to a staff count of about 100, providing a broad range of services to the international oil and gas industry.

In establishing it's new name, GLJ Petroleum Consultants, on September 1, 2005, GLJ broke with its tradition of identifying the active principals in the masthead. Prior to this name change, the firm had become well known by this acronym throughout the domestic and international petroleum community.
As evidenced in the GLJ corporate officers outline, the core team has maintained the firm's stability and consistency over many years, providing a level of teamwork and maintained expertise not often found in the rapidly changing corporate world.
GLJ has played a significant role within the resource community, assisting companies of all sizes with decisions that affect the course of their business. In its role as independent experts, GLJ commonly provides critical opinions relating to financing, mergers, acquisition, divestitures and public reporting.
